Orofacial Myofunctional and Tongue Tie Assessment
At Speak With Us our team offers comprehensive assessment into facial and oral muscles’ function, for proper speaking, eating, breathing and swallowing. We help to identify Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMD’s), such as tongue thrust, mouth breathing, low tongue posture and atypical swallowing, which can all lead to speech, feeding and dental issues.
We also offer functional tongue-tie assessment, to determine how tongue restriction impacts speech and feeding. We look beyond the appearance of the frenulum to assess tongue mobility, oral motor skills and swallowing to determine if the tongue restriction/tie is causing functional issues, which impact on daily tasks. We also provide the necessary referrals to assist with tongue tie revisions.
